Starting a fitness journey

Coming from a soccer background, the day I stopped playing it I was looking for a new, exciting journey. Being on the field every day, and trying to get better taught me to love hard work. When I stepped in the gym for the first time I knew that this was going to be my “second” home. I started this whole new journey 3 years ago and I love it.

Don’t be afraid to start a new chapter in your life. Don’t be afraid of changes. Like Lao Tzu said: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. That first step is basically the most important one.

Now, let’s be honest, getting fit is a really tough thing to do. It’s a process that requires 100 percent dedication to both nutrition and hard work, but as in sports, the sweetest victory is when you beat an opponent that is better, bigger, and stronger than you. In this case you’re trying to win the battle with cravings for your favorite foods (which in most cases are unhealthy, full with sugars and saturated fats), pain from the workouts, getting out of your comfort zone, and the most important thing being consistent with your workouts and your diet.

Consistency is the key behind the success in everything. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing your first results. Now, the problem with most people is that they’re expecting too much from the first couple months of training. Getting fit is a very long process where you will get to know your body. The first couple of months are tough but once you get through them, then the game begins.
Most common mistake with every beginner is that they’re expecting instant results. With that in mind, you will lose the game before it’s even started. Take it step by step! Working with a personal trainer is a must at the beginning to make sure that you learn how to perform the exercises with a proper technique. Safety at first! Start with “cleaning” your diet step by step. Don’t rush with it! Read articles, watch some videos on youtube about nutrition, recipes, different programs. Motivate yourself!
